About: The Global Chair Project is the brainchild of artist Damian Priour and the 2nd phase of an effort resulting from the success of The Texas Chair Project which highlighted the history of artists trading with artists. The Global Chair Project depends on the global art community coming together to benefit the arts, the environment and specific health research.If you are an artist, please consider donating a small original chair of your creation to raise money for the arts and the environment. The only requirements are that your chair fit into a box no larger than 8 inches x 8 inches x 8 inches (21cm x 21cm x 21cm), and that it be durable and one of a kind. See the Guidelines for artists. If you are an art lover, art patron or collector interested in doing your part to help a world in need, please try your darndest to be the highest bidder on the almost daily chair. This is a great way to start a collection or add to one. See the Guidelines for bidders. Artists, here is an opportunity to stretch your creative muscles and try something new or be creative with your signature materials. It is not limited to sculpture but can be a painting or a photograph or a song or a storybook, or a video…anything about a chair that will fit into the box. Put that imagination of yours to the test. Look at the archive page and see the incredible chairs that have already been made. Please upload a low-resolution image of your chair in a jpeg format no larger than 72 dpi or 8 inches on either side by clicking on the upload button for judging. If accepted you will be given further details on where and how to send it. It will be professionally photographed and uploaded to the site for auctioning. There is no fee for you to participate. Photographing and shipping to the high bidder will be paid by the project. You will only need to pay for shipping your chair to the project. Then go to the web site and see an amazing chair you may want to bid on. Its how we artists and collectors can make a difference. A chair will be auctioned on-line to the highest bidder on a pretty-much daily schedule. So you can help ina myriad of ways: Make a chair, Buy a chair, Spread the word. Check the web site daily for a unique chair. Even if you are not comfortable creating one you can help by starting a collection of them. This project will raise money for selected arts endeavors. selected health research and environmental efforts. Over 95% percent of the proceeds will go to charity.
